How many people will be on tour?
The maximum number of guests on any scheduled touris 12. The minimum for a scheduled tour to operate is 4 guests. Private tours have no maximum or minimum.

Can you arrange my international flight bookings?
We ask that you arrange your own international flights (and any domestic NZ flights to connect with the tour) through your favourite travel agency or airline. We recommend Air New Zealand, who provide excellent schedules and service. Their website is at www.airnewzealand.co.nz.

What about airport transfers?
All airport transfers in New Zealand are included in the tour price and will be co-ordinated with your flights.

Do I need a passport, visitor visa or vaccinations?
All visitors to New Zealand require a passport that is valid for the duration of their stay plus 3 extra months. Visas for short term stays in New Zealand (less than 3 months) are not generally required for US, British and most European passport holders. Citizens of most countries will have a visitor visa stamped in their passport upon arrival in New Zealand. Generally vaccination certificates are not required for British, US or European residents travelling directly to New Zealand. Your travel agent will advise of other requirements if you are visiting other destinations en-route. Please check with your travel agent or airline or the nearest NZ embassy at time of booking as to the precise requirements. It is your responsibility to comply with these requirements.

What insurance do I need?
We highly recommend that you purchase comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical costs, luggage, flights and holiday cancellation etc.

Which credit cards are best to bring?
Visa and Mastercard are the two most widely accepted credit cards in New Zealand.

Can I extend my New Zealand holiday and arrange extra services?
BEFORE: Arriving a day or two early gives you a chance to rest after international flights. We are happy to arrange extra accommodation and activities for you.

DURING: If you have friends or family in New Zealand we are happy to co-ordinate a rendezvous as we travel along. A variety of activities (golf, fishing, etc) can be arranged during free time or in place of scheduled activities.

AFTER: We are happy to arrange extra days anywhere in New Zealand after your tour, and can organise accommodation and other services for you.

I need a special diet. Can you arrange for that?
Yes. We advise our accommodation and restaurant hosts well in advance of any dietary needs you may have. Vegetarian, vegan and other diets are no problem.

What can I do on free days?
Lots! New Zealand is packed with interesting things to do and caters to nearly every outdoor interest ~ bungy jumping, sky-diving, horse treks, trout fishing, mountain biking, para-gliding, hot-air balloon trips, museums, hang-gliding, wine tours... There are also many walking tracks, gardens, galleries, cafes...  We can give you specific information during the early stages of the tour and your guides can help you to pre-book if requested.

Can I phone home and check email during the tour?
Most of your rooms on tour will have phones for making calls home. Some will allow you to plug in your laptop or will have an internet computer for guest use. If not, there is usually an Internet Cafe nearby. Be sure to bring your Internet Service Provider's website address, your Log-in Username and Password.

What should I pack for my New Zealand holiday?
Upon booking, we will provide you with a detailed Packing List, full of the obvious and not so obvious things to consider. This will include outdoor clothing, footwear, raingear and personal items. We recommend you try and stick to 1 large suitcase per person plus a day-bag. Please also check the baggage limits of the airlines you fly with. For domestic flights within New Zealand the limit is 20kg checked baggage and 7kg carry-on.

How often can I do laundry during the tour?
Most accommodation providers will have a laundry service of some kind. If not, it will be 1-2 days until the next opportunity, at most.

How difficult is the walking?
New Zealand's natural places are best explored on foot and so our tours are designed to have a regular dose of walking / hiking (to work off the previous night's dinner). You should ideally have average fitness (of course), and be healthy enough to enjoy a 2-3 hour hike.

We have a wonderfully extensive network of walking tracks in New Zealand, of varying length and difficulty. Walking tracks are chosen to suit our guests, and we can switch between easy-difficult tracks as necessary.

We take lots of breaks during the walks to look at the views, eat, drink and enjoy the birds and trees. Despite having very natural surfaces most tracks are well formed. Occasionally you will meet some small rocks and tree-roots in the path. We can provide a hiking stick or you can bring your own. Some tracks will go up and down gentle hills, but they are not mountains, and we go as slowly as you like. The brief tour descriptions indicate how many walking opportunities you will get.

The difficulty and duration of each walk will be described the day before you do it, so you can decide if it is right for you. If you decide not to do a walk or activity we can usually arrange something else for you, or you can simply have a lazy day to yourself.

Are there any extra costs not included in the tour price?
Your international flights, personal items, phone calls, laundry, room service, optional activities, tips, and any extra beverages are unfortunately not included.
