Creative Adventures selects the best restaurants
throughout the North & South Islands for our escorted small
group tours. Dining becomes a culinary adventure!
Experienced travellers know that one of the best ways to understand
and appreciate the local culture is to eat the local food!
We love to spoil out tastebuds and we love to share New Zealand's
great dining opportunities. You need energy for all the hiking,
kayaking, swimming etc, but there is no point in consuming fast
food and other average fare. Are the outdoor activities just the excuse
for eating great food? Who cares?
To keep your energy levels up for all the activities you will
feast upon the fresh foods and excellent wines produced by
New Zealand's green farmland. We like to concentrate
on New Zealand-style cuisine, professionally presented, served
in the best cafes and restaurants available. Because we stay at smaller boutique accommodation we are not obliged to dine at big hotel restaurants.

The long New Zealand coastline provides an amazing variety of
fish and shellfish, such as oysters, paua (abalone), lobster and
mussels. Lamb Rack is a popular dish, and we also recommend a big,
juicy steak. Completing the nightly feast are delicious desserts,
including Pavlova, the "national dessert". Vegetarian and other
dietary needs are no problem.
Breakfasts are usually a
choice of delicious cooked and/or continental options every morning.
Continental can include cereals, toast, muffins, fresh juice, coffee and
tea, fresh fruit, yoghurt. Cooked can include various egg dishes,
pancakes, sausages etc.
Lunches will depend on the
day's activities. We may picnic in the great outdoors or dine at
excellent little cafes.
Dinners are enjoyed at the best local restaurant we
can find. You can order straight off the restaurant's a la carte menu (no set menus or buffets).

New Zealand wines, beers and
non-alcoholic drinks are included with dinner on nights that dinner is included, and also
when lunching at a vineyard cafe.
"When [wines] were good they pleased my sense, cheered my spirits,
improved my moral and intellectual powers, besides enabling me to
confer the same benefits on other people." - George Saintsbury
Special diets are not a problem. If we know in advance we can make arrangements. Vegetarian options are always available.
Some
meals are not included. A few towns we
visit have a variety of extra
activities you may like to try and lots of dining options easily
available. On occasions like this we have left the schedule
open giving you the flexibility to explore on your own, pursue
personal interests and then dine when you like, and as your
taste-buds dictate. See the itinerary descriptions for more
details.
