Creative
Adventures integrates responsible, low impact policies into all
aspects of our private and small group New Zealand tours.
If we look after the Earth ~ the land, air, oceans and waterways, and all the creatures
that inhabit them with us, the Earth will sustain us for countless generations. Thus we have a strong commitment to
preserving and improving our natural environment.
 |
Despite being renowned as a "clean and green" nation, the New Zealand landscape and biodiversity have to contend with a multitude of threats ~ most of them due to human activity and introduced predators.
The New Zealand government's Department of Conservation and a variety of conservation groups work hard to preserve our native flora and fauna. |
International travel and tourism, like most human activities, produces CO2 emissions. Some tourism activities and services have the potential to damage the environment that visitors come to enjoy. Being a small-group tour operator, our impacts on natural places will easily be less than large coach tours.
In operating our business we take as many steps as possible to minimise our emissions of CO2, including the use of late-model, fuel-efficient vehicles. Our office processes minimise the use of energy, paper and other resources. All staff are working to achieve our stated Sustainable Business objectives:
- Minimise our impact on wildlife and natural places
- Minimise our contribution to landfills, air/water/soil pollution, climate change
- Minimise our impact on, and contribute to, communities around New Zealand
- Sustain the ability of future generations to enjoy what we have today
- Minimise our use of community and government resources
- Provide an enjoyable, educational, natural and authentic experience to guests

We prefer to select activities
that do not damage environmental values and work with operators who practice the same sentiments. However,
we understand that despite all our efforts we can't be "impact
neutral". The best way we can mitigate our impact is to act and
contribute in other non-business ways.
We commit our personal time and money to local and
national conservation issues. Also, built into our tour pricing is an amount for "Conservation funds". These funds are donated to a variety of local and national community-lead
conservation organisations. They include:
Friends of Flora Valley
Friends of Flora are a grass-roots conservation group in the Nelson province. The members of this group volunteer their time to protect the natural habitat of the "Whio" (blue duck) and other endangered native species of the Flora Valley in the Kahurangi National Park.
If you tour the Nelson area with us you may meet them personally. We think you would enjoy the wilderness of the Flora Valley and learning about the Friends excellent pest-prevention work.

Friends of Nelson Haven & Tasman Bay
Protecting the Nelson and Marlborough regions' increasingly threatened estuaries, shores and coastal waters since 1973.
The Royal Forest & Bird Protection Society
