Privately guided, custom designed tours are an ideal solution if our scheduled tours don’t suit your travel dates, interests or desire for complete privacy. We take delight in designing and hosting unique New Zealand adventures for discerning clients be they couples, families with small children or small groups of friends. We combine our knowledge, experience and resources to manage the logistical planning necessary to achieve a successful vacation and to make the most of your time, whether that means an active itinerary or perhaps doing absolutely nothing at all.
Pursue your personal interests be they golf, fly-fishing, food & wine, natural history or multi-day hiking. Some of these can be enjoyed in very non-commercial situations. All the possibilities are not listed on this website as we don’t want our competitors, or the wider public, to copy our ideas and destroy the very nature of the experiences. Rest assured we will arrange unique and genuine encounters with local people, natural places and their stories. What you see on this website is merely a small selection of the opportunities available. A private tour needn’t be difficult to arrange. The itineraries, activities and accommodation described throughout our website may give you some ideas, however when planning your privately guided vacation we don’t start with a pre-determined plan or make any assumptions about you. The best results are achieved by talking - learning more about your objectives, needs and your preferred style of accommodation and travel. Neither should private tours be overly expensive. The cost of your tour will depend on the level of exclusivity, luxury, privacy and service you are seeking. We can keep costs within your budget while delivering the most appropriate services, and creating the most unforgettable adventure possible. Let us know what you enjoy and what you are looking for. We will listen and deliver options that best suit you. We have our favourite suppliers but we don’t push them at you if they are not appropriate. They become our favourites through their provision of uncompromising standards of service and genuine New Zealand hospitality. Needless to say, that means we avoid many “factory-built” hotels in favour of private hotels, hosted accommodation and some of New Zealand's secluded, world-ranked private lodges.
If you choose, we can give you a break from the comforts of boutique accommodation and arrange nights at remote huts with only basic facilities ~ a unique experience and perhaps the best way to experience the raw, undisturbed isolation of New Zealand’s remote and wild natural places. Luxury accommodation by itself does not create enduring memories. Popular activities in the main destinations will be mixed with unique activities in remote locations, and connected with your preferred accommodation by whatever transport is required. The final tour price will depend on the actual accommodation chosen and any activities or other services added/removed from the stated Summer Holiday package. Your transportation will suit your needs. We utilise a small variety of late-model vehicles all with comfortable seating, generous legroom, air-conditioning, headrests, CD player and radio.
The Planning Process Dream... Think about what you may like to do in New Zealand, and the places you may like to see. The itineraries and information on our website and various guide-books can assist with this. Also consider the different experience you could have in New Zealand of the activities, sports and hobbies you enjoy back home. Your ideas may be a lot or a little ~ it doesn't matter. ... or delegate. You can also have us suggest an entire plan. We find that a few long, extended conversations on the phone can ensure we really understand your interests, your preferred style of accommodation and travelling pace. This way we can turn your dreams into perfect reality. Consider the number of days you have available. (We recommend at least 14 days. New Zealand looks like a small country but there's a lot to see and do.) Consider any special requirements or requests you may have. A good indication of your budget (excluding international flights) can also assist in the selection of appropriate services. Travel dates unknown? If your vacation dates are not quite decided it is useful to know the general period you intend to travel. We can design an appropriate itinerary, suggest some accommodation options for you to choose between, and calculate the estimated tour price. Once your flights are reserved we can confirm the availability of your selected accommodation. If your first choices for accommodation are not available we will suggest alternatives and adjust the tour quote accordingly. Travel dates decided? We can design an appropriate itinerary, and you can select from the accommodation options that are available. Adjustments can be made until you are entirely happy with the services and quote. Pay a tour deposit. Once you are happy with the itinerary and quote we require payment of a deposit equal to 20% of the tour cost. This is non-refundable and covers our investment of time and other expenses for your tour. Your tour deposit also covers any immediate supplier costs or cancellation fees. International Flights. Please contact your preferred travel agent or airline regarding these. Get Ready. We then make all the final tour arrangements and provide you with a variety of information: what to pack, how to stay in touch with family back home, reading material, and more.
