Our small group guided New Zealand tours are designed
for mature, active travellers. Enjoy great personal service while walking in the wilderness, viewing wildlife, and meeting different New Zealanders every day.
Our small group tour options are available on a SCHEDULED or PRIVATE basis.
Between November and April each year we schedule these small group tours a number of times.
If the scheduled dates don't suit your travel plans we can run the same tour as a private departure on dates that you prefer.
(The price for a private tour will be very similar to the scheduled tour price if 4 or more people are travelling together.)

Our small group, scheduled tours all have the following key features:
- MAXIMUM 12 GUESTS , typically aged 40-plus with average fitness. People who love the outdoors, enjoying nature in a variety of moderately active ways.
- SMALL, BOUTIQUE HOTELS and B&B ’s (4-5 star average) provide a little luxury, and are chosen for their friendly hosts, excellent facilities and special, individual character.
- 2 KIWI GUIDES and 2 TOURING VEHICLES with 8-12 guests. With 2 guides and 2 vehicles you receive a very high level of personal friendly service, comfort and space, and a degree of flexibility impossible on large coach tours.
- 2-NIGHT STAYS in most locations so you can actually have a relaxing holiday rather than a rushed country inspection tour.
- HUGE VARIETY of OUTDOOR and CULTURAL ACTIVITIES suitable for moderately active people with no prior experience. We love to walk, sail, kayak and cruise to enjoy and learn about New Zealand’s unique flora and fauna, face to face.
- RELAXED PACE, FREE TIME and FLEXIBILITY allow you to personalise your New Zealand tour in many different ways.
- EXCELLENT LOCAL RESTAURANTS are our preferred dining locations, where you can select directly from the a la carte menu.

If you have less than 18 days available, or if your vacation dates don't quite match, you can join us for a section of this tour. For example: join on Day 2, Day 3 etc, or depart early (6 day minimum). We recommend the 14-day South Island section which we call "New Zealand's Wild South".

Outdoor Explorer
North and South Islands , 14 days
This tour is very similar to the Summer Holiday (above) but does not visit Clyde or Dunedin. This 14-day tour is ideal for people with less time available.

First Class Hiking Tour
South Island, 14 days
Includes two multi-day hikes and lots of short day-walks. On-track accommodation in private rooms, fully guided all the way. These hiking experiences are suitable for people of all ages with better-than-average fitness.
- 14 days (13 nights)
- Start in Nelson ~ finish in Queenstown
- Maximum 6 guests
- Abel Tasman Coast Track at the top of the South Island (3 days / 2 nights)
- Hump Ridge Track in the Fiordland National Park at the bottom of the South Island (3 days / 2 nights)
- Milford Track guided day-walk. Experience this world famous track for 1 day (normally 4-5 days for the complete hiking trip).
